There is one thing most English learners have in common: we understand grammar, we follow conversations, but when we need to explain something at work, we cannot find the right words.
That feeling is frustrating. And it happens to all of us.
In this post, I want to share a tool I discovered years ago, recommended by my English teacher Donovan. I still use it today.
Flashcards in Anki — how does it work?
Anki is a free app that uses flashcards to help you remember words. Each card has two sides, one with the word, and one with the meaning or an image. This helps your brain connect the word to something real, which makes it easier to remember.
You can organize your cards into different decks based on what you need. For example:
- Workplace vocabulary: words for meetings and emails
- Daily English: common words for everyday situations
You can also download decks that other people have already created, so you do not need to start from scratch.
For me, using Anki regularly helped me stop forgetting words and start using them in real conversations. It is a simple habit, but it makes a big difference.
